I agree with not double-punishing. In the same vein, though, make sure he knows how disappointed you are. The oppositional nature concerns me; I wonder if the teacher is unconsciously setting him up, or if he really, really wants to make her mad.

I share your concern regarding the oppositional behavior, Daisy. I wish I knew the age of the child. Oppositional behavior in a teen is a different matter that requires a different approach than the same behavior in elementary aged kids.
