Yesterday was mother-daughter day. This came after my son declared Monday father-son day. This, of course, puts the pressure on me to do something fun and exciting with my daughter which usually requires getting out of the house, meaning I'd have to get dressed, assuming I've showered.
After psyching myself up and taking my morning shower at 12:30 p.m., I decided to splurge and take her to see "Barnyard." Not quite sure what I think of that movie yet. I giggled every now and then, but also had thoughts like "that's gonna scare the bejesus out of little ones" and "why would they kill a character off in a kids movie?" (Sorry if I gave anything away!)
Knowing that the boys wouldn't be home until after dinner, we headed over to the closest grocery store to buy something for a quick meal. This is where it gets sticky...literally. There, in the parking lot, was a car covered in duct tape. Now you may be thinking that the tape was securing some plastic over a window or maybe holding a windshield wiper on.
No. It was DECORATED with duct tape. The car being white was decorated with a very creative zebra pattern...from bumper to bumper. You may be wondering what type of car. A Chevette? Maybe a Dodge Dart? No, it appeared to be a fairly new (circa 2001) Honda Accord. In good shape I might add.
As we walked into the store, all I could think about was that car. Going through our list: bananas, check; carrots, check; duct tape...I've gotta get a picture of that car! Remembering I had my handy dandy Palm pilot complete with built in camera, I quickly proceeded to check out.
But alas, the elusive zebra-striped duct tape car was pulling out of the parking lot. Thus began the quest. Quickly loading Thing Two into the car, we proceeded to search for the beast. Target parking lot? No. Office Max maybe. No. Sam's Club? Again, no.
Thus, the quest ended before it even began. IF ANYONE IN THE GRAND RAPIDS AREA SPOTS THIS ELUSIVE VEHICLE, PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE A PICTURE AND FORWARD IT TO ME! FOR THE SAKE OF MY SANITY AND MY CHILDREN, FORWARD THE PICTURE!
Ahem. Anyhow, since I couldn't track the car down, I thought I'd share these. Now this is the closest I could find. Just try to imagine it all over the outside (from http://www.octanecreative.com/ducttape/bodyshop/index.html):
Lest you think that duct tape is just for car decoration, here are some more uses. For the fashionista, their is the duct tape purse. Or for the interior designer, a quick update for outdate furniture. Or maybe some wall art?
And finally, a quick, easy and inexpensive resolution to the never ending argument between men and women (from www.ducttapeguys.com and yes, this is a legitimate website):
My God, people have WAY too much time on their hands.
